The choice of supply sources is essential for Simon Lussier Ltée. Before even purchasing a wood species, our buyers trained in hardwood classification evaluate the quality offered by the supplier. Only a mill that offers products that meet our criteria and our high requirements can be a source of supply. This is how we are able to offer superior quality to the market.

Quality partnership: Today, we maintain links with more than 50 sawing factories which have been able to meet a large number of criteria based on the quality of the products demanded by our company.

The wood is subject to quality control to validate its conformity. This is how a complete inspection is done by the classification team to verify the following requirements:

• Respecting the grade of each piece
• Thickness accuracy
• Straightness of edging
• Whether or not there is discoloration or staining
• Color
• Extra length
• Manufacturing standards
• Total shipment volume
• Compliance of the established agreement
• Compliance with environmental standards

Once the quality check is carried out, the selected pieces of wood are sent to the production table for lathing and drying.

At this stage, our team demonstrates impeccable precision and rigor to guarantee product quality. This is why our process requires a length per bundle in order to produce optimal drying. In addition, the 30cm slats are well aligned to prevent excessive warping.

Once the wood is in the oven, three criteria will determine the drying time: the species, the thickness and the degree of humidity at the entrance.

At the end of the drying cycle, 24 hours of conditioning and equilibration are required to prevent any stress and humidity variation for each batch.

Following drying, our classifying experts carry out a final inspection of the product to ensure optimal and consistent quality.

A tally sheet, commonly called a tally, is established for each package in order to access as much information as possible. This score sheet is the most descriptive on the market, as it gives in detail the color, quality, quantities, length and allows you to determine the volume of the packages.

Storage is done in our modern facilities which protect our vast inventory of species against bad weather and potential risks. This controlled storage ensures the right level of humidity for each species.
